fix Edit

GenTech Computers had posted an unofficial BIOS update that resolved the BSOD issue on the G51J. (Note this is not the 207 on ASUS' support site). Use the 208 official BIOS which now incorporates the same fix:

Please note that either BIOS above should **not** be used on ANY other models - e.g. G51Jx, G60Jx, M60J - even though these models are suffering from the same issue.

what we know Edit

  • this is model-wide, G51J, G51Jx, and M60J
  • common stop code is 0x124/PCI-E (0x04 parameter 2) during one of the affected games below
  • the BSODs are random in timing, but only occur in the affected games
  • reported at the end of october '09, soon after launch (G51J)
  • first unofficial response from asus is "memory timings"
  • second unofficial response from asus is "nvidia problem"
  • third unofficial response is a BIOS fix
  • tech support said to update RealTek driver

Took me a while to get it...) - Lolic
